Autumn 2020 Mini Haul and Lookbook

Hello everybody, I hope you are all having a lovely weekend!

Recently I have been researching sustainable fashion, attending events online and learning more about what is sustainable and how to make what I already have in my wardrobe more sustainable for the future.

So, the past few weeks I have been gradually sorting through my wardrobe and looking at what I actually do still wear and what I’m not likely to wear anymore. You see, I haven’t grown since I was 12 years old, so there are some items of clothing still in my wardrobe from when I was ten! And yes of course they still fit, but my style has changed a lot since then so I’m really not likely to wear them unless I run out of absolutely anything else to wear or I’m doing something where I need to wear clothes I don’t mind getting messy. I’m going to be looking more through those clothes in the next few months, and seeing how I could transform them into something new. Please let me know if that’s something you’d like to see on my blog or YouTube channel? 💛

After looking through my wardrobe I narrowed down my autumn fashion wish-list to what I was actually in need of this season. I’m aiming to shop more sustainably and consciously from now on, and only buy what I actually need and not just because I like it, I’m seriously running out of room in my wardrobe too, so something has to change! I’m also planning to start sewing more of my own clothes which I’m excited about, so I can create the styles I love, and also make sure the fit is just right. In total this season I bought three t-shirts, two dresses, one pair of jeans and one pair of shoes.

Outfit 1 – Basic Florals

Top – H&M

Jeans – H&M

Shoes – Converse (my wardrobe)

Belt – H&M (similar)

Headband – Claire’s

This season I needed a new pair of jeans as I only really have one good pair left. I’ve tried a couple of different brands of jeans over the years and I’m really loving H&M jeans at the moment, they’re a great fit for me, so comfy, but also really affordable too. I chose this pair as the colour is really different to the jeans I already have, and I’m so happy they turned out to be high-waisted, I just feel much more comfortable in high-waisted jeans and I feel they are a more flattering style and will just go with anything.

I paired this with a long sleeve white tee also from H&M, I love the dainty blue floral print, button detail and the ribbed texture is really cosy and fashionable. To finish off the outfit I added a belt that I bought at H&M earlier this year, a daisy headband from Claire’s, and a pair of rose gold Converse I bought a couple of years ago. Has anyone else found that, because of lockdown and not going out as much as usual, you’re just not really wearing shoes as often? At least that’s how it’s been for me, so pretty much all of my shoes that I’ve bought the past year or two are almost in perfect condition still, which has been great for my bank account! 😂

Outfit 2 – Classy Pastels

Top – New Look

Jeans – H&M

Shoes – Converse (my wardrobe)

Headband – Claire’s (my wardrobe)

I love how floaty this top from New Look is! I’ve seen tops like this all over Pinterest and Instagram, I love this style, and I’m so happy I managed to find one in the high street. It’s a nice soft peachy pink colour which I think makes it look really classy and feminine, it’s also available in black and burgundy and I was tempted to buy them all, but narrowed it down to just the one in the end. This top is also part of the New Look Kind range which means that it is made from 100% cotton, which is responsibly sourced and friendlier to the planet.

I again paired this with the same jeans and accessories as the previous outfit.

Outfit 3 – Modern Dorothy

Ok, so if you can’t already tell I am loving the tiered trend. Tiered dresses, tiered tops, tiered skirts, ahh I’m obsessed! Anyway, when I found this dress at New Look, I knew I had to place an order. I had literally been looking for a dress like this for well over a year and just hadn’t been able to find anything on the UK high street. I just love it so much! It’s so floaty and I love the shade of blue. I decided to pair this with a white short sleeve t-shirt as it’s autumn now and it’s getting chillier outside. This dress is also 100% cotton and so soft, and if you’re quick it’s currently in the sale for only £4.50!

I accessorised this dress with a pair of gold heels and a gold headband from New Look. I love these shoes! The block heels make them so comfy, and I love how they make me a little taller. I don’t usually wear heels, but I just can’t explain how good they made me feel! The headband I actually bought to go with a Greek themed costume I’m working which I may share on my blog or Instagram sometime soon.

Outfit 4 – Halloween Chic

Dress – New Look

Top – Next (my wardrobe)

Boots – Faith (my wardrobe)

You can’t quite see in the photos, but this dress is actually the exact same style as the blue, just in black. I decided to go for both colours in this dress as I figured I could pair the black with white tops or black and white stripes and ankle boots, for Halloween/Autumn looks, and the blue I could style from Winter through to Summer. I also really don’t have many dresses in my wardrobe and I’m really excited to start mixing up my outfits each week and not just stay safe with different variations of jeans and a tee.

Outfit 5 – New York Style

Top – H&M

Skirt – Next (my wardrobe)

Hoodie – H&M (my wardrobe)

Friends has always been one of my favourite shows, I’ve been watching it since I was 4 years old, and I’ve probably seen each episode at least 5 times! I love the New York skyline detail above the logo on this top, and I decided to pair it with a grey check pleated skirt which has a similar pink shade running through it. I bought this skirt at Next a couple of years ago, but I have seen similar skirts in several high street stores this season. To complete the outfit, I also added my fluffy polar bear hoodie that I bought from H&M 3 years ago, but again there are many borg and teddy style hoodies on the high street this year!

Outfit 6 – In Wonderland

Top – H&M

Skirt – George (my wardrobe)

Alice in Wonderland is one of my favourite movies and books. I have actually visited Anthony House in Cornwall where the 2010 live action Disney movie was filmed, and I just have so many good memories associated with it. I love the design of this tee with all the bright flowers. I don’t tend to wear black but I’m finding it really fun mixing things up a little with my regular wardrobe. I tried to pick out one of the colours from the flowers and paired it with my burgundy corduroy skirt, which was from George a couple of years ago, and I love the autumnal vibes this adds. There are so many colours in the flowers on this tee that it could go with practically anything, but also looks great with a simple jeans and converse.

  1. I adore your modern Dorothy and New York looks! My fashion style is best described as boho chic. I love florals and timeless prints and can never go past a good neutral! I’m loving dresses and long skirts at the moment 😍

Shopping sustainably is always a great choice. You don’t necessarily need to sacrifice fashion, your hard earned money or shop fast fashion. Sometimes I’ll thrift and find clothing from a favourite brand like seed heritage but most often I shop from ethical boutiques. Merri the label, Indian summer co, hazel and folk are my faves x

    1. Aw thank you ☺️ I think that’s my favourite too! I keep seeing tiered dresses from H&M and SHEIN on Pinterest but I can never find them in-stock on their websites when I look 🙈 I really love the ones from New Look though and they had a couple of different colours and sizes available 💛
