Hello everyone!
Decopatch is one of my favourite crafts, it may be a little bit sticky, but the results are definitely worth it, and I find it so relaxing sticking the paper on and seeing the colours and patterns building up. Usually I use decopatch to make ornaments or coasters, but this time I tried something a little different and made a little star shaped gift box, which could be used to store little trinkets and jewellery, and would make a fun and reusable alternative to wrapping paper this Christmas.
What you will need:
- A box (mdf, wood or papier-mâché)
- Decopatch papers (Like thick tissue paper)
- Decopatch glue (Similar to pva)
- A Decopatch brush (these are made from hog bristles; I use size 10)

Firstly choose a selection of coordinating papers. This time I chose to use red papers, a couple of papers with a white background and a blue for contrast.

Tear up the papers into small pieces. Then using the brush apply the glue to a section of the box, place a piece of the paper here and brush it down flat with more glue, repeat until the box is entirely covered.

For my box I decided to make the bottom half red and white, the lid blue and white, and the inside more red.

A couple of hours later, once the box was entirely dry, I coated the box with Decopatch glitter glue to add some sparkle and to varnish it.

Decopatch sounds like loads of fun and I like the idea of creating a gift box + adding unique elements to it instead of buying a run of the mill one for somebody! Is there a picture of the completed star box to see as only the main image of materials used shows up on my phone for some reason and would love to see what it turned out like! ⭐💚

Thank you! I’m going to take another pic to add to the end of the post as the glue was still drying when I put the post up 😂❤️
