It’s almost the new year! So, I thought it would be the perfect time to make some party decorations.

Flower Garland

The first decoration I made from a kit I found in Flying Tiger. When you open the packet, you find that the tissue paper is already tied to the ribbon, which makes this craft a lot quicker.

First unravel the ribbon and lay it flat on your workspace.

Begin by pulling out one side of the flower and separate the two layers of tissue paper.

Scrunch up the edges a little and separate the yellow centre pieces.

Repeat on the other side, pull and scrunch the paper a little more to disguise the join.

Then repeat along the rest of the chain and you are ready to hang up your flower garland!

Mini Tassel Banner

My first diy post on my blog was a tassel banner! Over two years ago now! It doesn’t feel that long ago! Today I am going to show you how to make a mini version which would be perfect to hang along a shelf or the top of a cork board or picture frame.

What you will need:
Tissue paper
Pencil
Ruler
Scissors
Sticky tape
String

Using the ruler and pencil, measure a rectangle, 15cm by 8cm and cut out from the tissue paper.

Fold the rectangle in half, short edge to short edge. Cut in a fringe pattern along the open edge through both layers.

Unfold the rectangle and roll up from the centre.

Twist the centre tight.

Next bend at the middle, creating a loop, and twist. Wrap some tape around the join. I found it works better if you cut the tape in half on the mini version.

Repeat as many times as you would like, thread a string through the loops and you’re finished!
