Spring/Summer 2020 Mini Haul and Lookbook

Hello everyone!

I hope you are ok and having a lovely bank holiday weekend. It’s so warm here in the UK it’s like it’s suddenly become summer in the space of a week! Sorry I’ve been away for a couple of weeks, I haven’t been feeling great, but I think I’m getting better now. I’ve mostly been reading, studying/working, making friendship bracelets, and doing a little photography and baking. What have you been up to recently?

(I ordered all of these items before lockdown with my own money, it just took me a little while to get around to doing the photoshoot)

Outfit 1: Hello Yellow

I paired a yellow striped ribbed t shirt from H&M with denim shorts from M&S to pick up on the yellow flowers in the embroidery. I love these shorts! They’re a great length and the embroidery is so detailed; I especially love the yellow pansies as they are one of my favourite flowers! They also have an adjustable waist which is so comfy and one of my favourite things about still being able to fit in the kid’s department. (I did order some clothes from the women’s department for this haul at different stores but I’m still just too small! 😂) They’re a light denim which is perfect as the shorts I already had in my wardrobe are a dark denim and it’s good to have a little variety.

My shoes are Converses with a yellow and pink floral pattern which I love! And they have a big yellow flower around the logo on the inside ankle which is a really cute touch.

Outfit 2: Here We Rib Again

I feel like you can’t go wrong with a ribbed t shirt. I’ve really been loving them recently, and I think they’re really comfortable and flattering even with just a pair of jeans and Converses. This top is also from H&M and has long sleeves which is great for the unpredictable weather here, plus white is said to keep you cool in the sun whereas darker colours attract the heat, which makes it perfect for transitional outfits when you just can’t tell if it’s spring or summer until lunchtime! I really like the button-down detail on the front, it just adds a little something to a simple tee.

Outfit 3: Spring Pastels

I love lilac! It’s my favourite colour but I barely have any lilac in my wardrobe, it’s been a little popular recently but I’m still finding it hard to find much lilac fashion on the high street. This top from H&M is really light and comfy and has a white stripe through it.

Outfit 4: Shirr it up!

My previous outfit was also paired with these converses but as you can’t see them in the pictures, I’ll talk about them now. They were on my Christmas list last year so when I saw them in the Schuh sale in January, only available in my size I knew I had to get them. Frozen converses for only £14.99? Yes please!! They’re pastel blue and lilac too, which as you probably have already guessed, I love pastels!

This top is from M&S and I really love the buttons and frills and puff sleeves paired with the shirring. I was looking for something a little more fancy and grown up this year and this top definitely ticks the boxes. I just love shirring so much and I really love sewing with shirring elastic too so I’m planning to sew some of my own shirred tops and skirts this summer and I’m really looking forward to it! (that’s also why there aren’t any skirts in this haul as I’m challenging myself to sew some myself this year)

Outfit 5: Flower Power

I also got a playsuit from M&S. I definitely prefer playsuits to dresses; I just find them so much more comfortable and they’re easier than matching together a top and bottoms. I love the bright bold floral pattern, almost like pressed flowers. The fabric has a slightly crinkled texture but it’s still soft and comfy. The waist sits a little high with a frill covering the elastic, which I wasn’t sure about at first but it’s actually kinda flattering.

I paired the playsuit with my denim jacket and a pair of sandals from my wardrobe, which is how I will more than likely wear it in the summer.

Lovely post Emily! I also still buy my clothes from the kids section but I’m size 13/14 US/Canada 😂 I’m a small in women’s but I find that I’m still a better fit for kids’ clothes! ❤

    1. Thank you ☺️ Me too! There are a couple of shops were I can fit in the smallest size but sometimes it’s still a bit too big or I look like I’m playing dress up in my mum’s wardrobe 😂The kids stuff still fits me much better, I’m usually somewhere between a kids 11/12 and 13/14 depending on the store, and a lot of brands do more fashion/grown up styles for kids which is perfect for me 💛

      2. Yes! I’m kinda glad I do still fit into kid’s clothes & shoes because it’s so much cheaper, especially for brands/labels e.g. with Converse, kid’s UK size 4 is about £37 whereas adult’s is £60+! 💛

  4. Love all of these outfits and you look amazing! ✨ The playsuit is very pretty, I’ve been on the lookout for a nice one for Summer but I always get sidetracked into adding other things to my online basket and then when I go through process of elimination on what I want I’m left with no playsuits in there at all 😂 Great post! ❤️

  9. Cute outfits! I always shop in the kids section too! Well not all the time, but regularly 😂. Zara kids always have some really cute stuff that’s normally very similar to the adult stuff and an age 11-12 fits almost perfectly most of the time. I love the ribbed top and floral playsuit! x
