12 Crafts of Christmas 2021: Day 3 Christmas Card Wreath

Hello everyone!

I’ve always saved my Christmas cards to reuse in different Christmas crafts, such as to make gift tags for Christmas gifts. This year I had a go at something a little different and turned last year’s Christmas cards into a colourful Christmas wreath.

You will need:

β€’ Brown cardboard box

β€’ Old Christmas cards

β€’ Scissors

β€’ Glue

β€’ A sewing needle or hole punch

β€’ Some string, ribbon, or wool

Method:

1. First of all we need to create a ring to attach the wreath to, for this I traced around a dinner plate onto a cardboard box and cut along the line, I then centred a bowl inside the cardboard circle and traced and cut along the line to make a doughnut shape.

2. Next choose the shape you would like to cut your cards, for my wreath I chose to cut the cards into the shape of holly leaves, if you’d like to make holly leaves too click here to download my free template.

3. Trace around the shapes onto the reverse of the cards and cut along the line.

4. I then punched a hole in the cardboard ring to mark where the top of the wreath was going to be and began gluing the holly leaves in an anticlockwise direction from this point making sure not to glue any leaves over the hole.

5. Once the wreath of leaves was complete and dry, thread a loop of ribbon through the hole on the top of the wreath and you are ready to hang your wreath in your window or on your door.

I hope you enjoyed today’s craft!

  3. This is so neat!! Perfect way to use up Christmas cards and looks like it may go down well as a gift too if it only used cards that a person had given to u over the years 🎁. Now you’ve got me thinking about how a birthday version of some sort would be nice as well, maybe if someone’s kid never kept their cards it could all be gathered up and presented when they hit a certain age in a frame πŸ’«. My mind is doing overtime thinking of the possibilities 🀣. Great post! πŸ’š

    1. Aw I love that idea! And it would be so cute if you could lift each card up to read the messages on the back ❀️
